Texan of the Year

The Dallas Morning News is taking nominations for the "Texan of the Year" and I encourage everyone to nominate Joel Burns.  Remember Joel? He is the 9th District City Councilman from Fort Worth who, after hearing about several teen suicides made an impassioned speech to the Fort Worth City Council revealing his own struggles growing up gay. He is trying to make a difference and if anyone deserves it, Joel does. We have until December 5 to get the nominations in. Tell your friends. See the info below for further instructions.

DMN Texan of the Year
Coming Sunday, Dec. 26
"A Texan (or Texans) who has had uncommon impact; who exemplifies Texas traits of trailblazing, independence and staring down adversity; and who has affected or influenced lives.
"Recognition is for impact – positive or negative – made over the past year."
TELL US who fits that definition for the 2010 Dallas Morning News Texan of the Year. Send your recommendations by the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
