(CNN) -- Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor is hospitalized again and will have part of a leg amputated, according to her representative.
John Blanchette said cancerous lesions started appearing on one of Gabor's legs, which were examined Sunday, and gangrene was imminent. Gabor, 93, was being prepared for surgery Sunday night. Her leg will be amputated below the knee, Blanchette said.
Gabor's husband, Prince Frederic Von Anhalt, said while en route to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on Sunday night that Gabor was awake and aware of the situation. He said amputation was recommended before the holidays, but Gabor didn't want to undergo the surgery. Her condition worsened, and without the operation "we would lose her," Von Anhalt said.
"She has no choice" but to have her leg amputated, he said.
Von Anhalt said the surgery might take place Sunday night or Monday.
